Benue fastest rising mediatainment hub/Naija's next rated Greenbox247 Media Ent. hooked up with one of Benue's finests who are doing the state proud in the larger and much competitive Lagos/Naija music industry.
He is a star who needs no introduction. He is no other but the subsequential #ASAP EP crooner Tommy 2Klose!
Good day super star,we are most honored to have you on the hot seat. Let's meet you.
"They call me Tommy 2klose. Birth name Thomas Akor. I was born in Ilorin Kwara state but grew up in Lagos.
And am from Benue,Idoma by tribe,Ogbadibo Local Government precisely."
Earlier this year, you released your highly anticipated EP #ASAP,judging by the fact that it is not easy for an upcoming artist to achieve such fit in the in music industry talk more of the very competitive and complicated Lagos industry, what would you say have helped you attained this height?
"Na God,am one person that whatever I do I put God first."
For some artists, music is something they do for money,to others it's for fame. Some even do it to get attracted to the opposite sex.
Basically, what do you do music for (as in your aims for going into music)?
"For me,music is something I do to pass message across. If you listen to my lyrics you will agree with me.
As am passing through the world, I realized that so many things are happening so I put these things into songs."
How did the music thing all begin?
"I started music at a very tender age.
I was in the church choir,I was a drummer in my local church.
As I beats drums to other people's songs I gathers inspiration for my own."
How do you feel working with the likes of Industry's finest Obodorobodo?
"Well, I feel great, Obodo is one of the very few beat makers of international repute in the country. He have produced for industry's heavy weights like the self-acclaimed musical Taliban Orishe Femi.
He produced the hit track on my EP #Yellow."
So far,so good, how did you see the industry (as in your experience in the industry)?
"You know in Lagos people work with 'man-know-man'. If you no be Yoruba, things won't be funny trying to get marketers and promoters and a record label that will help you push your work.
Am from Benue, we have Idomas up there too but they don't help.
But like I earlier said, whatever I do I put God first.
So itz been God all the way!"
No producer will record a song for you free,no radio station will air your song free,no promoter will hype your song free,no marketer will collect your song although it is dope if you don't have any person or money,no record label will sign you no matter how dope you are if you no be there person.
Yet, we are shining!
Yet, we are still delivering good music at it peak.
Omo,na God!"
Are you under any record label?
"Presently, am on my own self hustle #InsideoutMusic.
I don't have any record deal yet.
Am open to any record label."
Do you see your self quitting music soon or keeping to your hustle spending tireless to make it big...and what if you never get to make it?
"I know the God I serve,
He will never fail me!
I don't see my self quitting music soon for any reason inrespective of hardship in the industry especially when #OYO is your case (you are on your own....no record label.
But like they say; No pain,No gain!
I see myself going places in the near future.
Future collaborations with the likes of R.Kelly, 2Face,Orishe Femi,Davido and the rest of them.
And the future is now!"
What's your advice for fellow artists and upcoming musicians?
"My advice for them is; put God first!
God over money
God over pleasure
God over fame
